Today, RedGate Farm is home to highly regarded trainers such as Leslie Burr Howard, who was a member of the gold-medal U.S. equestrian team at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Connecticut has no shortage of equestrian properties, with nearly 160 stables in the state that offer training for riders and horses. However, RedGate Farm is undoubtedly among the most luxurious and well-appointed, placing it among the three-dozen priciest equestrian properties in the nation.

Notably, Lost Acre Farm in Warren, Connecticut, is also listed for $16 million, making it the state’s priciest equestrian property. Recent years have seen several other high-profile equestrian properties change hands in Connecticut. Ridgefield’s Double H Farm was sold for an impressive $24 million last month, marking the top sale in Connecticut to date in 2023.

Meanwhile, in February, a horse farm located on Brushy Hill Road in Newtown sold for $2.4 million, representing the town’s biggest real estate transaction of the past few years.

Despite these impressive sales figures, it’s worth noting that some equestrian properties have struggled to fetch their asking prices. For instance, the Newtown horse farm that sold in February was listed for sale in 2021 for twice the amount it ultimately sold for.
