Unleash Your Horse’s Full Potential: Carl Hester’s Secret Revealed!Ingrid
Ever wondered why Carl Hester’s horses seem unbeatable in competitions? The answer might surprise you. Read on to find out why Carl Hester’s top-performing horses live in pastures and why this unconventional approach could be a game-changer for you too!
Carl Hester isn’t new to gold medals. It’s been 12 years since his last team gold at the European Championships in Rotterdam back in 2011, where he stunned the world with Uthopia and Charlotte Dujardin’s Valegro. But what’s the secret behind his sustained success?
According to Carl, the best horses should live as naturally as possible. “I come from an island, Sark, where there are no stables, let alone bridles and saddles. So, for me, it’s only normal that horses lead a natural life,” says Carl.
Tailoring the Lifestyle
The famous rider of Fame doesn’t follow a one-size-fits-all strategy. “It doesn’t suit every horse. Valegro couldn’t live 24/7 in a pasture because he’s too big and loves to eat. But for more tense horses like En Vogue and Imhotep, it’s an excellent way to go,” explains Carl.
Grass is natural. People often find it hard to believe that Carl’s top-performing horses like En Vogue and Imhotep live outdoors. “When people come to the stables and see them in a field, they’re shocked,” he admits.
Addressing Health Concerns
What about the ever-feared health risks? Carl admits, “I spend my life peering out the window, wondering if they’ll all be in one piece in the morning! But I’m happy they live this way.”
In a world where the cost of living is continually rising, this lifestyle is not only natural but economically sustainable. “We’re not saying you must do this, but look at what it has produced for our horses. The results speak for themselves,” Carl adds humorously.
