French Grand Prix dressage rider Camille Judet Chéret has withdrawn from the CDI-W Basel following a riding accident that resulted in a spinal injury.
The 36-year-old rider fell from a horse on Monday, January 5, and was taken to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with a fractured vertebra. She is scheduled to undergo surgery and will be sidelined from riding for several months during her recovery.
Judet Chéret explained that the fall occurred unexpectedly during a routine ride and involved a calm, reliable horse. A sudden spook led to an unfortunate landing on her back, highlighting the unpredictable risks associated with equestrian sport.
Following the accident, Camille shared that the moment has been physically and emotionally difficult, but she remains grateful that the injury was not more severe. While disappointed to miss upcoming competitions, she is focused on recovery and returning home to her family.
Recently back in competition after pregnancy, the timing of the injury presents an added challenge. Despite this setback, Judet Chéret remains positive as she looks ahead to healing and eventually returning to the saddle.
Camille Judet Chéret is the daughter of French five-star judge Isabelle Judet and is married to French Olympian Corentin Pottier. Together, they operate a training and sales stable near Paris.
