The equestrian world has always been known for its grandeur and opulence, and these top 10 richest horses of 2022 are a testament to that fact. From Killer Queen VDM to Ben 431, these horses have amassed incredible amounts of earnings throughout the year, competing in prestigious events around the world.

1.Killer Queen VDM

This mare has never deserved her name so well. Killer Queen is at the top of this ranking, far from her competitors. Alongside Daniel Deusser, the mare has accumulated the modest sum of 1 057 287€ over the 2022 season. She is particularly well known for her performance at the Grand Prix of the CSIO 5* in Calgary, where her first place earned her more than 700,000€ and propelled her to the top of the podium. 

1,057,287€ is enough to buy 211,457 saddle pads or 42,291 Airbag cartridges, for the more pessimistic among you. That should be enough for you, right?

2. Pacino Amiro

This gorgeous 2012 Irish Sport Horse takes second place in the standings, with an accumulated earnings of €952,538. That’s the equivalent of 1,511,679 organic apples. Enough to buy a round of drinks for his stable mates, eh Pacino?

3. HH AZUR

The fourth richest mare in the world at the time of our former top, HH Azur is without any difficulty at the last step of the podium today. She pockets 932,501€ this year, under the saddle of her long-time sidekick, McLain Ward.

With only 17 competitions over the whole season (the lowest number in this top 10), HH Azur only confirms what we already knew: she is powerful and efficient.

4. The JEI

A grey to change a bit from the bay coat, which obviously needs to prove something… The beautiful Leone JEI concludes the season with 902 015€ of earnings. This small gifted horse had already amazed us in 2021, when he won the Grand Prix de Genève.

Martin Fuchs, his rider, had also won the first place with the mythical Clooney 51, two years earlier. Leone competes in 42 competitions and earns an average of €21,476 per competition, not bad, the big grey!

5. Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z

The 15 year old Zangersheide comes in fifth place. Also ridden by the German rider Daniel Deusser, the chestnut stallion has accumulated more than €880,000 in earnings over the season.

6. King Edward

His name will not have made him wear the crown this year, but King Edward still wins €835,808 in winnings for the 2022 season. To think that we are happy when we get a bag of mash in a competition, he gets an average of 30 000€ per competition.

We just show up at the wrong competitions, in fact, that’s the problem.

7. Gamin Van’t Naastveldhof

Don’t let his name fool you, this bay has all the makings of a great horse! With 48 competitions in the 2022 season, Gamin managed to accumulate 793,741€ in winnings, enough to make the older ones pale.

He is particularly famous with Edouard Schmitz, his rider, during the Longines International Grand Prix in Ireland, at the end of summer 2022.

8. Monaco N.O.P

Monaco N.O.P is close to our seventh place with a total of 784,371€ at the end of the year for 46 events held. His biggest win of the year was 180,000€ for his second place at the CSI5* in Riyadh last November.

9. DSP Chakaria

The chestnut of 2010 signs a nice prize list with 759 102€ of earnings, under the saddle of André Thième. Moreover, she was still an unknown until recently! However, this mare managed to impose herself in the big league without any effort, and we haven’t heard the last of her.

10. Ben 431

Is the poorest of the richest 10. With the very modest sum of 742 738€. Can do better. The 12 year old Westfalian nevertheless pockets one of the biggest cash prizes of the season, namely €500,000 at the Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen in July. Hats off to the artist.
